Use Credit Cards

You can use all types of international credit cards to book hotels or pay for services in Iceland as these are accepted at most places, even for paying for your cab. Many tourists not aware of this find themselves queuing up at currency offices to convert their money into Icelandic currency, which is the Kronur (ISK). No need for this as you can pretty much buy anything using your credit card.

                                             

Learn the Exchange Rate

Make sure you are aware of the current exchange rate of Kronur with the currency you usually carry around back home. Due to the economic conditions in Iceland, the value of Kronur is very less as compared to, for example, the US dollar. This means when making reservations in a guesthouse in Reykjavik you are quoted a few thousand Kronurs, then it probably equals to a few hundred US dollars, or even less.

Early Check-Ins

Do make sure whichever guesthouse or hotel you book offers early check-ins so that you can straight away move to your hotel when you land. This facility may not be offered by all hotels in Reykjavik.
